Amazon Cuts the Missing From Inbound Claim Window From 60 Days to 30 Days — Transition Through October 23 Has Ended

Effective: September 23, 2026
US FBA sellers who send inbound shipments and file claims for units Amazon records as missing from those shipments.

Amazon announced on the Seller Central forums that the maximum window for filing Missing from Inbound shipment claims drops from 60 days to 30 days, effective September 23, 2026. A one-month transition let sellers keep filing through the Help Page for shipments within 60 days of first receipt, but that transition ended on October 23, 2026, so new claims now need to be filed within 30 days through the shipment's Contents tab. Amazon says claim amounts, the reimbursement process and claims already in progress are not affected, and the existing 14-day wait after receipt before filing still applies.

Real-World Impact

For a shipment Amazon receives on November 2, 2026, the 14-day wait means a Missing from Inbound claim can be filed from November 16, and the new 30-day window closes on December 2, 2026. Under the old 60-day window the same shipment could have been claimed until January 1, 2027, so the filing period shrinks from about 46 days to about 16 days.

Key Points

  • The maximum claim window for Missing from Inbound shipments is reduced from 60 days to 30 days, effective September 23, 2026
  • The change applies to FBA sellers filing claims through a shipment's Contents tab, with the window counted from the shipment receive date
  • A transition period ran from September 23 through October 23, 2026, during which sellers could still file through the Help Page for shipments within 60 days of first receipt at the fulfillment center
  • Claim amounts, the reimbursement process and claims already in progress are unchanged
  • Sellers must still wait at least 14 days after Amazon receives a shipment before filing a claim

What You Should Do Now

  1. 1Reconcile received quantities against shipped quantities on every inbound shipment as soon as receiving closes, rather than in a monthly batch
  2. 2Set a reminder for day 14 after each shipment's receive date and file any Missing from Inbound claims through the Contents tab before day 30
  3. 3Keep carton contents, packing lists and proof of delivery ready at shipment creation so claims can be filed quickly
  4. 4If you rely on a reimbursement service or tool, confirm it has moved to the 30-day deadline for inbound claims
