Amazon Opens the FBA Partnered Carrier Program to All Dangerous Goods, Not Just Lithium Batteries (Effective April 30, 2026)
Amazon has expanded its FBA Partnered Carrier Program so that approved hazmat sellers can now ship all FBA-eligible dangerous goods through Amazon's discounted inbound carrier workflow β not just the lithium-battery products that were the program's only hazmat coverage before. As of April 30, 2026, sellers enrolled in the FBA Dangerous Goods (hazmat) program can book inbound shipments for every dangerous-goods category they're approved for using the same Send to Amazon flow, discounted Partnered Carrier rates, and automated label generation that standard FBA sellers already use. Previously, hazmat sellers had to source their own hazmat-approved carriers and coordinate documentation and bills of lading separately, often at premium rates.
Key Points
- Effective April 30, 2026, Amazon's FBA Partnered Carrier Program covers all FBA-eligible dangerous goods, not just lithium-battery products as before
- Approved hazmat sellers can now book inbound dangerous-goods shipments through the same Send to Amazon workflow used for standard FBA shipments, with discounted Partnered Carrier rates and automated labels
- Before this expansion, hazmat sellers had to arrange their own hazmat-approved carriers and handle documentation and bills of lading separately, typically at higher rates
- Supported shipping modes include small-parcel (via UPS), less-than-truckload (LTL), and full-truckload (FTL)
- Eligibility requires enrollment in Amazon's FBA Dangerous Goods (hazmat) program and that each ASIN has passed Amazon's dangerous-goods classification review
- The Partnered Carrier program does not cover shipments originating from Hawaii or Alaska; sellers there must continue using their own inbound carriers
What You Should Do Now
- 1Confirm your account is enrolled in the FBA Dangerous Goods (hazmat) program and review which dangerous-goods categories you're approved to send
- 2Verify each hazmat ASIN has completed Amazon's dangerous-goods classification review before attempting to use the Partnered Carrier workflow
- 3In Send to Amazon, select the Partnered Carrier option for eligible hazmat shipments to access discounted rates and automated labels
- 4Compare your current third-party hazmat freight rates against Amazon's Partnered Carrier rates to quantify potential savings
- 5If you ship from Hawaii or Alaska, keep your own carrier arrangements since Partnered Carrier does not cover those origins
