How This Works
BSR (Best Seller Rank) is Amazon's real-time ranking of how well a product sells within its category. A lower BSR means more frequent sales. The relationship between BSR and sales volume is roughly logarithmic — small BSR improvements at the top mean massive sales differences, while changes at high BSR numbers matter less.
Estimates are derived from category-specific lookup tables that account for typical sales velocity per category. Categories with higher purchase frequency (e.g., Books, Clothing) will show higher estimated sales for the same BSR compared to categories with lower purchase frequency (e.g., Electronics).
Important: BSR fluctuates throughout the day. Amazon updates it hourly. A single BSR snapshot may not reflect average performance. For best results, check BSR across multiple days or use a BSR tracking tool.
